Here’s to the directors of photography.

Directors of photography never seem to get enough credit these days. As creatives, we oftentimes overlook the sheer, yet subtle importance of proper framing when capturing a scene and getting the look and feel ‘just right’.

Personally, I think some of the most inspirational photo direction, ever, can be seen in a lot of Donald Glover’s work. Likely because he has experience in both the film and TV industries, he really knows how to select some of the best directors for getting the right images across.

Cinematographers could definitely learn a thing of two from Larkin Seiple, Donald Glover’s director of photography for his short film: Clapping for the Wrong Reasons.
